Bringing Legacy to Life – Booth Design for King Khalid Mosque Exhibition

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs hosted a high-profile exhibition at King Khalid Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan. The exhibition aimed to highlight the Kingdom’s efforts in preserving Islamic heritage, advancing Quranic education, and promoting digital transformation through modern Islamic apps and VR experiences. Our role was to design and execute a full-scale booth experience that tied together tradition, technology, and seamless visitor engagement.

Challenges

  • Representing multiple departments and themes under one cohesive spatial design

  • Designing a structure that honors Islamic identity while remaining modern and functional

  • Creating clear zones for education, interaction, product display, and hospitality

  • Managing logistics and production within a high-traffic mosque setting

  • Aligning every element with the Ministry’s visual identity

Strategy

Phase 1: Concept Development & Planning
  • Designed a U-shaped main booth layout optimized for visitor flow and visibility

  • Divided the space into core experience zones: Quran Printing Process, Islamic Manuscripts, Electronic Library, VR Learning Booths, and Hospitality

  • Ensured a balance between informational content and experiential touchpoints

Phase 2: Booth Production & Brand Integration
  • Incorporated the Ministry’s visual identity across all structures; from signage and colors to lighting and iconography

  • Designed five secondary booths around the main space with Andalusian architectural details to create visual cohesion

  • Developed interactive areas using iPads, digital screens, and immersive walkthroughs to engage visitors

Phase 3: On-Ground Execution & Setup
  • Oversaw the full booth buildout, from structure fabrication to final styling

  • Installed dedicated content zones for displaying Quran translations, historical manuscripts, and Islamic applications

  • Styled hospitality areas with traditional elements, offering visitors Saudi coffee, dates, and beverages

  • Created clear directional flows for smooth visitor navigation and visual messaging across all zones

Results

  • Delivered a multi-zoned, high-impact branded experience in one of Riyadh’s most visited mosques during Ramadan
  • Created an exhibition space that merged heritage with innovation; receiving praise from both organizers and visitors
  • Successfully visualized complex narratives like the Quran printing process and VR religious learning in accessible, engaging formats
  • Reinforced the Ministry’s digital-forward identity while honoring its deep-rooted traditions
  • Helped position the Ministry’s vision for modern Islamic education through an immersive and memorable booth experience

Conclusion

From architectural design to content flow, every detail was built to serve a bigger purpose: connecting the Saudi public with their religious heritage in a format that’s modern, accessible, and emotionally resonant. The King Khalid Mosque Exhibition reflects how thoughtful booth design can transform public engagement into a powerful brand moment.
